Tokyo Marui Glock 17 GBB Christmas release
23/10/06

Tokyo Marui have announced that they are set to release their TM Glock 17 gas blow back pistol at Christmas. The only things I pick up on are that it will have a 25 round magazine and what looks like glow in the dark sights (possibly tritium) as standard! This could also mean that the M14 SOCOM comes standard with Tritium as they are also mentioned in that release.

Tokyo Marui M14 SOCOM Christmas release
23/10/06

Tokyo Marui have announced that they are set to release their TM M14 SOCOM carbine in December. This will be a shortened version of the Full length M14 that they released earlier this year. The flash hider has a shorter design and the cocking mechanism has "SOCOM" engraved on it. It is pictured with a red dot scope although this is unlikely to come with the rifle. One interesting thing to note on Marui's offical release is that the front sight is said to be a "tritium post", as in the glow in the dark light up sights that the real military use. I believe they are referring to the real M14 SOCOM in the release because the rest of the specs are real steel however we can hope...

King Arms FN FAL review
23/10/06

Wolf armouries have a review of the FN FAL up on their site. Long story short it has a beefy mainly metal construction and shoots at around 320 FPS. The Kings Arms FN FAL should make a great companion to the Tokyo Marui M14.

New Toyko Marui releases
02/06/06

While on the topic of innovations (see below article on new M4 gearbox) Airsoft manufacturer Tokyo Marui are about to release their Type 89, based on the Japanese assault weapon. It includes the version 8 gearbox and should have a working burst function, which will fire 3 shots. Hopes are high to see this incorporated into an MP5! They also have plans to release a desert camo scheme M1A1 Abrams tank which will function identically to Tokyo Marui's other RC tanks. A single stacker 1911 is in the gas blow back line up, which will be interesting to compare to WA's options.

TM are looking to expand their sub machine gun range using the Micro Airsoft Electric Gun concept that made the MP7 so popular. They are looking to produce a Ingram M11, a TMP and a Scorpion. They are also expected to expand their Airsoft Electric Pistol range with a Beretta and a USP. So some interesting new guns should appear by Summer/Autumn this year!

Prowin gearbox

Its not very often airsoft gets innovations like this. Prowin have just designed a gearbox for the Tokyo Marui M4/M16 that incorporates the hop up unit and the gearbox into a single airtight unit. Redwolf airsoft claim that the new design gives gains of about 100 FPS over a normal uprated gearbox using the same spring. And here's a great little feature, the back of the gearbox can be removed and the spring changed in under 2 minutes with the box still in the reciever! I'm going to try and get my hands on one of these and see how they pop ;)

Tokyo Marui MP7released
14/02/06
The Tokyo Marui MP7 has been released and seems to be living up to expectations. It chronos at 240FPS which for a gun of this size is pretty good. Most importantly it has a well made mini-gearbox which is fully strippable meaning we can almost definitely expect upgrade parts to be released within the next few weeks!

I've got my local dealer, Battletech, to get me the kit version of the Systema M4a1 PTW. The kit version is several hundred pounds cheaper than the pre built versions and doesnt look too difficult to construct. I'll let you know more info when I have it.

New Star Airsoft releases
30/11/05

Star Airsoft have released images of their latest models in production. So far there have been no release dates or prices released. Having built the STAR SL9 kit before I can confirm that the quality is excellent. Build quality, kit instructions everything is top notch. If you want to see some good images of the STAR SL-9 go onto our forum and go to the gallery section. They are supplied in kit form and will need a version III donor gearbox and possibly a couple of other parts from the TM G36-C. STAR say that it'll take ten minutes to install the parts into the kit.

The ABA, Association for British Airsoft, have been set up to counter the Violent Crime Reduction bill's impact on our sport. They are now recognised stakeholders meaning they hold some influence over the proposed legislation that threatens the airsoft sport. Please visit there site and fill in the online form they have to show your support. They are hoping to get a large number of people signed up to bring some weight to their argument.

Simon at Mad Bull airsoft was impressed with the overall performance of the gun and says the gearbox works well.
